Rescue Assignment for a Trapped Hand

Tuesday, August 20, 2013 20:16 At 20:16 hours EBFD#1 was dispatched to Lonczak Lane near Ryders Lane for "an individual changing a tire who had the car fall on his hand".  Assistant Chief Sommer (750) arrived on scene and confirmed that he had a male victim with his hand trapped underneath the front tire.  The Assistant Chief requested that air bags from Rescue 704 (Heilbronn) be placed into service upon arrival to free the victims hand.  Crews from the Rescue and Engine 706 (Drozdowski) worked in tandem to stabilize the vehicle before raising the car off of the individuals hand.  Once freed the victim was turned over to EMS for evaluation.  After the scene was secured firefighters then took the time to change the tire for the individual, finishing the job that he had started before the accident occurred.  All units were cleared from the scene and back in service in under 30 minutes.
